Getting into a career in Economics and Business | ONCAMPUS Amsterdam

My name is Suzan van der Bruggen and I’m the Head of the Economics and Business Career Centre. Me and my team, we want you to be skilled for the next step. 
 
Economics and Business has a really good job marketing, but we’d like you to think through what you want, what are your passions, what are your strengths. We do career coaching so you can talk about your strengths, about what you want, about your background, also about your future.  
 
In The Netherlands we have this Orientation Year. That’s a year after graduation in which you can find out if you want to work in The Netherlands and where. The Career Centre also provide you with all kinds of activities to make this Orientation year a good year for you. We have a database of almost two thousand alumni who are willing to help you. We have that in our online community. It’s called uvaconnect.nl. You can fin out in your alumni database whether you can find a mentor for example to have some chats with at companies you like, and then you’re not going to stress out that you have to decide during your studies already so it gives you some air to make the good choice. We have a lot of alumni working as business analysts for example, data analyst we have a lot, consultancy, marketing is also a possibility. We have strategists and we also have a lot of entrepreneurs. All kinds of companies are looking for good Economics & Business personnel. The big firms like ING, the banking area, at Phillips, and also the public sector. 
 
One of the courses that we are offering in Amsterdam Business School is Change and Strategy. You, provisional managers in the future can change the environments by new technology innovation that you offer to the market and to the society.  
 
So we offer two programs: one is Actuarial Science which will prepare you for a career in Risk Management and also Econometrics. Econometrics is at the core of handling data. They will both prepare you for a career in bigger companies, so the corporate world, like banks, insurance companies, but basically all the big companies that make decisions on the basis of big data sets.  
 
You do not have to stress out because we are going to help you with the next step. We created a journey so you can start with thinking about yourself, then find out about your skills, and then maybe also gaining practical skills, and end up with finding out how the job market works and how you can be the best version of yourself. So be prepared and make it happen.
