UCLan FoundationCampus students feeling the burn!

Some of UCLan’s returning students received a visit this week from Shepherd Ndlovu, Senior Lecturer in the school of Forensic Science and Investigative Studies. Shephard gave them an overview of the BEng Fire Engineering course that many of the students will progress to, coupled with inspiring pictures of the kind of work in Industry that the students may enter.  UCLan has one of the largest ranges of Fire Engineering Courses in Europe.

Mary Bounds, Deputy Head commented; ‘It can be difficult returning to study from a holiday and the visit has reminded students of why they’re here:  to take the first step towards getting an excellent UK degree.  I certainly wish I could study Fire Engineering!’

This is the first of many visits scheduled by academics to FoundationCampus this semester to talk in detail about UCLan degree subjects and give students a chance to ask questions.  One of the students excited by the visit was Turki Al Khaldi.  When asked why he had chosen to study this subject at UCLan he answered:  ‘Fire Engineering is one of the ways to protect ourselves and everybody around the world from injuries so it is essential that we concentrate on improving our understanding and UCLan is a great place to do that.’
