Highlighting progression degrees at the University of Southampton

The University of Southampton, a founding member of the Russell Group organisation of universities in the UK, has an excellent reputation for quality of teaching and research impact. As an overall institution, it has been ranked in the top 20 of UK universities for 2024 in multiple league tables – the Complete University Guide (CUG), Guardian University Guide (GUG), and the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.

International students who successfully complete a foundation programme with ONCAMPUS Southampton are guaranteed the opportunity to study at this internationally renowned university. Some of the progression degrees available to ONCAMPUS students are highlighted below.

The Life Sciences pathway with ONCAMPUS Southampton opens the door to some highly ranked progression degrees, including BSc (Hons) Geology, a subject which the CUG has ranked 6th in the UK for 2024. According to the GUG 2024, Southampton also ranked 6th in the UK for Geography and Environmental Studies and placed in the top 20 for Earth and Marine Sciences. Progression degrees available for ONCAMPUS students include: BSc (Hons) Geography, BSc (Hons) Marine Biology, and BSc (Hons) Environmental Science. Students in this school also benefit from many extracurricular opportunities to help them stand out in a competitive job market.

The University of Southampton also ranks highly for Engineering and Physical Sciences, and the School of Engineering boasts state-of-the-art facilities for students to access as they develop their skills. It is a world-class centre for education, research, and enterprise. Civil Engineering is a subject worth highlighting, as both the CUG and GUG 2024 rank it 5th in the UK. ONCAMPUS students can progress from the Undergraduate Foundation Programme to BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering, or from the Pre-Masters’ Programme to postgraduate courses including MEng Civil Engineering with Architecture. Another consistently highly ranking subject in this pathway is Mathematics, with both the CUG and GUG league tables placing the subject in the top 25 in the UK for 2024.

Business courses at Southampton offer a distinct multidisciplinary approach, informed by the expertise of active researchers and external industry leaders. The university has strong industry links with world-leading companies such as Rolls Royce and Microsoft, with work placement opportunities available to students. The CUG ranks Business and Management studies at 23rd in the UK, including progression degrees such as BSc (Hons) Economics, BSc (Hons) Business Management, BSc (Hons) Business Analytics, and BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance. Marketing, a key component of business management and innovation, is also ranked in the top 10 in the same league table.

The Humanities and Social Sciences pathway with ONCAMPUS Southampton gives students the opportunity to study Law at a degree level. Southampton is ranked in the top 25 in the UK for Law, retaining its no. 21 position from last year in the CUG. The GUG ranking for 2024 indicates even more improvement on its already high ranking, climbing from 26th to 18th place this year. There are several progression degrees that ONCAMPUS students can access, including undergraduate courses such as LLB Law and LLB International Legal Studies, and postgraduate courses such as LLM Maritime Law – an institute of law at the university that is world-renowned.

The University of Southampton’s School of Art is located at the Winchester campus and is a specialist building dedicated to many creative courses, including BA (Hons) Games Design & Art. This degree offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills for a career in the growing industry of games design, with a year in industry available to students and guest lectures from some of the gaming industry’s top writers, programmers, and mixed reality (VR/AR) innovators. International students who join the Art and Design pathway with ONCAMPUS Southampton can progress to this undergraduate degree and other courses such as BA (Hons) Graphic Arts.
