Fri 17 Nov 2023

Aston University has had another fantastic year for university rankings across the board, with the Complete University Guide (CUG), Guardian University Guide (GUG), and Times and Sunday Times University Guide (TSTUG) placing the institution in some impressive spots in their league tables.

One of the biggest highlights for Aston students are the career prospects rankings that feature within these. In 2022 the National Undergraduate Employability Awards awarded Aston Best University Careers/Employability Service and the following year WhatUni placed Aston in the top 20 in the UK for Career Prospects. This impressive trend has continued in 2024’s rankings, with GUG placing Aston University 22nd in the UK for career prospects after graduation, CUG ranking it in the top 10 for Graduate Prospects On Track and TSTUG naming it University of the Year Runner Up for Graduate Employment.

This year the university has been awarded TEF Triple Gold, the highest possible rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework assessment. This means that not only has Aston won gold overall but has also received gold for both student experience and student outcomes. The university has also remained in the top 25 UK universities overall, according to GUG 2024, and places in the top 30% worldwide in the QA World University Rankings this year.

The Guardian University Guide has also placed Aston University highly in its subject rankings in the last couple of years. In 2023 Aston was ranked 2nd in the UK for health professions courses, and this year placed in the top 3 for chemical engineering. The 2023 rankings also included a spot at 6th place for international relations, forming part of Aston’s reputation for high quality business courses. The university is among just 1% of business schools in the world to have triple accreditation, and this st year it was shortlisted for Business School of the Year, with recognition being given to the work of the school in unlocking the potential of ethnic minority businesses and promoting inclusive growth.

ONCAMPUS Aston is located on the university campus, in the city of Birmingham in the West Midlands in England. Birmingham itself has a reputation as a fantastic student city due to its vibrant culture, diverse population, and industry links. QS Best Cities 2024 ranks it in the top 50 cities worldwide.
