Why Hull is becoming a top destination for international students

Tue 20 Nov 2018

Hull was named as the UK’s City of Culture in 2017. This distinction has raised the awareness of Hull not only as a vacation destination, but as a leading destination for international students. Just north of the city centre is the University of Hull, a campus university which blends the traditional with the innovative. ONCAMPUS is proud to work in partnership with the University of Hull to prepare you for a degree at one of the oldest universities in England.

What the city has to offer

Located on the banks of the Humber estuary, the city of Hull has a long history of being a maritime hub and still has strong transportation connections to Europe and beyond. Having been named the City of Culture has added to the city’s prestige and highlights the cultural attractions of the city – the Ferens Art Gallery, the Hull History Centre, the Maritime Museum, and The Deep aquarium are just a few of the attractions the city has to offer. Exploring the city on foot can be fun, with strolls along the marina or the cobblestone streets of the Old Town district.

The University of Hull was an integral part of the city being named a City of Culture. University students played and continue to play an active part in creating art installations and organising events around the city. They add spirit and vibrancy to a historic city and you could be part of that energy!

Why University of Hull is a great university

With its green and leafy 125-acre campus, dotted with historic and new buildings, the University of Hull offers the quintessential British university experience. The university boasts over 1,300 international students from more than 100 countries around the world, which creates a vibrant multicultural environment. The renovated Brynmor Jones Library, Hull University Union, and Middleton Hall cultural venue are the anchors of student life on campus.

Students can choose from a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees, with faculties in Arts, Culture and Education; Business, Law and Politics; Health Sciences; the Medical School; and Science and Engineering. Graduates from the University of Hull have found careers in some of the world’s leading organisations, such as BMW, Coca-Cola, GlaxoSmithKline, HSBC, Microsoft, and Walt Disney Company to name just a few.
