New £1 million pound home for Hull

Tue 13 Nov 2018

Former students and staff helped celebrate the official opening of the new ONCAMPUS Hull Centre on 8 November, which has been benefited from over £1 million investment by the University of Hull.

Featuring 12 dedicated classrooms, meeting rooms, office and public space, the Leven Building provides the perfect mix of academic and social space to inspire learning. It is also conveniently situated right next to Westfield Court halls of residence, part of a £130 million scheme developed in partnership between the University and the award-winning student accommodation provider, UPP.

Centre Head Chris Hooper thanked the University for its co-operation, support and passion for the partnership, which has seen the Centre’s popularity and student numbers grow since it opened in 2016 – with new courses expected soon.

The University of Hull Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Glenn Burgess, said that the launch provided an opportunity to reflect on the quality and strength of the partnership, which he described as delivering a great deal of benefit to both Hull and Cambridge Education Group (CEG), ONCAMPUS’ parent company.

“It is a great pleasure to be here to note the refurbishment of the Leven Building as a base for ONCAMPUS Hull,” he said. “The facilities are superb and I hope will support the learning of students into the future.”

Jonathan Harms, Managing Director of ONCAMPUS UK and EU, said that the refurbishment and investment demonstrated the strong commitment to the partnership by the University and its value to the students who come and progress.

“The partnership has gone from strength to strength and we are at a point where the first cohort of foundation students are due to graduate from their Bachelor’s degrees in the summer of 2019 at Hull,” said Jonathan. “It is important they feel part of the learning community from day one and here they are integral to the campus. Hull has a wonderful campus and this building is a great addition to it.”

ONCAMPUS Hull currently offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate foundation programmes with both January and September intakes. This includes:
