London South Bank University (LSBU) has maintained its top ten position, ranking sixth in the world for reducing inequality in the prestigious Times Higher Impact Rankings 2025. The ranking, based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, measures universities’ research on social inequalities, their policies on discrimination and their commitment to recruiting staff and students from under-represented groups.
With over 1,200 institutions participating across 110 countries and territories, LSBU's outstanding performance in the Times Higher Impact Rankings 2025 reinforces the important work of the university to reduce inequality, which includes:
- Supporting students with disabilities
- Raising awareness of STEM careers for female students, including LSBU’s work with primary and secondary schools encouraging girls to study STEM subjects at university
- UK-first research projects: including an award-winning intervention to bring blood pressure testing into barbershops, and working with at-risk communities to identifying gaps in stroke awareness education
- Projects supporting the local community, including a personal injury clinic providing free legal advice to South London communities.
LSBU also ranked in the top 100 for two other Sustainable Development Goals: Good Health and Wellbeing, Decent Work and Economic Growth.
Higher education institutions from 125 countries and regions took part in this year’s ranking which assesses universities’ commitment to sustainability across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.
London - voted best student city!
For the sixth year in a row, QS has named London the world's best city for students.
Home to more international students than any other city in the world, over 90,000 people come to London every year from over 200 countries to study and experience the culture, the history and the spirit of one of the world’s greatest cities.
London boasts many beautiful parks where students can spend their lunches, afternoons and weekends. Some of the best views of the city can be seen from the banks of the famous River Thames including the London Eye, Big Ben and St Paul’s Cathedral.
- IN THE HEART OF LONDON: Trains from surrounding counties are approx. £12 and take 30 minutes, or if you’re travelling by bus or tube, it’s just £5 a day with a TfL student travel card. It’s also just a 10 minute from London Waterloo and 15 minutes from London Bridge, two of the capital biggest stations.
- FOOD AND DRINK: Get together with friends at LSBU's on-campus student bar, try out London’s first sustainable community market - Mercato Metropolitano - offering food from all over the world, or get a taste of the freshest food trends at the world-famous Borough Market, with countless stalls, bars, and restaurants.
- ART AND CULTURE: London is bustling with modern day life, but you’re also surrounded by history. Whether it's soldiers’ rations from the Great War, visceral pieces by Tracey Emin or Twelfth Night at the Globe, you don’t have to go far for your hit of culture.
