Cambridge Education Group announces partnership with California State University, Monterey Bay

Tue 25 Aug 2015

ONCAMPUS Cal State Monterey Bay is a partnership with California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), one of the California State University system’s twenty-three (23) campuses. Students will live and study at CSUMB, a public university located on California’s beautiful Monterey Peninsula.  ONCAMPUS Cal State Monterey Bay will offer international students an academically rigorous and highly supportive U.S. collegiate experience in a safe and secure environment, enabling students to succeed in studying in the United States.

CSUMB provides an extraordinary opportunity for international students to experience life in America’s #1 study abroad destination – California. With more than 5.2km2, the campus has everything you’d expect from a great university: state-of-the-art library, new dorms and academic buildings, dining halls to accommodate all lifestyles, comprehensive athletic facilities and a buzzing student center.  Located at the center of the Golden State coastline, Monterey Bay is just hours from San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Yosemite, and Los Angeles; it is the perfect starting point for exploring the region.

Upon completion of the University Transfer Program, successful students will progress into the second (sophomore) year of degree courses at CSUMB where there are 23 majors to choose from. These range from Business Administration and Psychology to Marine Sciences and Cinematic Arts & Technology. Students enjoy small class sizes, one-on-one interaction with professors, and an active residential campus atmosphere. As part of California State University, the U.S.’s largest 4-year public system, CSUMB has access to comprehensive academic resources while maintaining an intimate and collegial feel.

Tim Angle, Dean of the College of Extended Education and International Programs at CSUMB, said, “ONCAMPUS Cal State Monterey Bay is a very exciting venture. Our university is committed to fostering a diverse and globalized learning community and to creating opportunities for traditionally underserved populations. Providing a new pathway for English learners to earn an accredited degree is completely in line with these deeply felt institutional values, and we couldn’t be prouder to kick off this fantastic program.”

Fergus Brownlee, Chief Executive of Cambridge Education Group, said, “We are very pleased to be partnering with CSUMB and this relationship shows our continued commitment to working with highly respected universities in attractive study destinations. ONCAMPUS Cal State Monterey Bay will provide international students with the ideal opportunity to experience life at an American University and gain a deeper understanding of the U.S. and its education system. Our university transfer program has been specifically designed to support student success – academically, socially and professionally – and prepares students to complete their degree at CSUMB, one of the most innovative universities in California.”

ONCAMPUS, part of Cambridge Education Group, operates successfully in the UK preparing thousands of international students each year for university courses in the UK. In mainland Europe a highly successful partnership operates with the University of Amsterdam, a top 50 world ranked institution[1]. In the U.S. ONCAMPUS is also established in partnership with Wheelock College in Boston, with Morrisville State College, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system of 64 colleges, and with the University of North Texas. ONCAMPUS has been assisting International students study in the U.S. since September 2012.

ONCAMPUS Cal State Monterey Bay will offer a university transfer program to international students needing high quality English language and academic preparation prior to transferring to CSUMB to complete their degree. The center will enroll its first students in January 2016.
