Brian O'Malley, Centre Head ONCAMPUS Boston:

Hello and welcome to the first of what will be a series of 10 minute video presentations, highlighting the guaranteed University progression partners associated with ONCAMPUS Boston, International Year One program at Curry College. For those who are not familiar with the ONCAMPUS Boston program, I will start with a brief summary of the history of our program and why it's been so attractive to international students and why we've been so successfuln in our mission to transfer international students to some of the best universities in the US. ONCAMPUS Boston is an international first year University program, located on the campus of Curry college, which is located just a few miles from the center of Boston. A typical student will earn 30 college credits during the International Year One Program and then either matriculate into Curry college as a second year student or progress to another university in the US as a second year student. In an effort to streamline the transfer process and add value to ONCAMPUS Boston experience, we recently signed a number of guaranteed progression agreements with top ranked institutions within the US, that provide our agents and students with a clear vision of where students can progress to upon completion of the International Year One Program.

Today we are highlighting Elon University. Elon is a top 100 University, ranked number 88 most recently within the US. This is impressive considering there over 5,000 colleges and universities to choose from within the States. Elon is located in the Southeast of the United States, in the state of North Carolina. Elon is the name of the University as well as the city it's located in. The weather is great, quality of life is high., the cost to live there is very affordable and there is a very vibrant business community and it has a real sense of community. This is highlighted in the campus coffee event that occurs every Tuesday morning. Students from all over the campus meet in the common area, enjoying coffee and light refreshments and network with each other and with University staff and with Elon faculty. Elon is the number two ranked University for excellence in undergraduate teaching, trailing only Princeton University and joining a group of outstanding universities committed to Teaching Excellence. The attention to the student, all adds up to the Elon experience. To help better understand this experience from the students perspective, including how they can successfully progress into Elon, I've asked that transfer and student success advisor, Mr Joe Lemme, to join the conversation.

Joe Lemme, Student Success Advisor ONCAMPUS Boston:

I want to share two things. Two specific pieces of the Elon application experience with you today. One way Elon is able to become number two nationally in undergraduate teaching, is through this feature of their University called The Elon Experience. At some point before you graduate from Elon, every student must do at least two of the things that are on this list: Study abroad, have an internship, you might have to complete a research project, there are plenty of opportunities for leadership positions on campus, go out, engage in the community in which Elon is located. Whatever two you choose will lead to great personal growth, great professional growth, and will help you feel connected to the larger Elon community that you are joining by going to this University.

As your University transfer advisor, I will guide you through every step of the way of the application process. We'll make sure that your application is perfect before we send it out to the school. Some requirements to
keep in mind though. You need to finish the ONCAMPUS Boston program with a 2.7 GPA, attend at least 85% of your ONCAMPUS classes. Don't worry, you'll all be attending 100% of your classes. We won't tolerate 85% attendance, and then you'll need a great of a B or higher in our WRIT 1,400, which is the first semester class and WRIT 1,500, which is the second semester class. Many of our students appreciate Elon accepting WRIT 1,400 and 1,500 scores as proof of English fluency because it helps take the pressure off of them to study for the TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo. Basically, what you're looking at with Elon University is an incredibly supportive, incredibly dedicated group of faculty and staff that will work with you, to help you achieve your full academic potential and decide what type of jobs you would like post- graduation. Through their phenomenal internship program, help you to get your feet planted in the industry you want to work for.

Hebe Fuller-Dennis, Associate Dean, Director of International Admissions, Elon University:

My name is Hebe Fuller-Dennis, I am the Associate Dean of admissions at Elon University and I'm also the Director of International Admissions. So I've been at Elon now for seven years. 80% of the students come from outside of the state of North Carolina. That's significant. Many students come to Elon for that reason, because we're not regional, we're not just representing the state of North Carolina, and 47 different countries. That's what I get to do. This is the campus. All of this is the school, it's 600 acres. Just to give you a sense of the size, this building right here is actually the admissions office and I walk over here for lunch and this is about five to six minute walk. So I know it looks very large and it is, but it's very walkable. So the campus itself, basically we have four divisions. We have a College of Arts and Sciences, we have a School of Business, a School of Communications and a School of Education. We have the highest level of accreditation possible for each one of our schools. Our classes are also significantly, the number 4 is significant because every class is 4 credits and not 3. Most universities teach courses, three credits, but here at Elon, they're actually four. So the students typically take four classes as opposed to five. These are all of our Majors. So hopefully you can see this. I know it's a lot of different programs, but you can see the College of Arts and Sciences, general programs, School of Business. We have a couple of Accelerated Programs, but on the School of Communications and the School of Education and then lots of Minors. It's important to know that a student that comes to Elon is not accepted to a specific program. They are basically accepted to the University. So a student that's admitted and is interested in business and communications, they can take courses from business and communications at the same time and they can actually double major. Most of our students will double major and major and minor in lots of these other programs or even in another program here. Average class size at Elon is 20 students. So 12 to 1 student to faculty ratio. 100% of our classes are taught by full time faculty at Elon. We do not have large lecture halls. Classes tend to stay very small. So lots of one on one interaction with the faculty and the students.

We have two studios, Jane and Brian Williams from NBC. State of the art and communication strategic communications TV. We also have Cinema and Television Arts, which is very popular. We do spend a lot of time outside, students studying biology, chemistry, environmental science is popular, and again, these are what the classrooms look like. This is the middle of the campus. This is called the Moseley Student Center. So there are a couple of dining options here, clubs and organizations meeting here. This is The Global Neighborhood. Basically, all of these around here are residence halls. Like I said, almost 70% of our students live on campus. So it's a very residential community. But even off campus, it's not very far. Some students live around the campus and it's not very far. It's still very short drive or even walking or biking. So they're over almost 284 plus clubs and organizations. So there's social activity on campus. We are not in a city. We're located in the small town. The social aspect of the University is on campus. Typical residence halls, two per room. Some are suite style, but most of them are two or four and some are apartment style.

Here are a couple of our notable students, Noor graduated in 2020, Fabio graduated in 2019 and many of the reasons these students come to Elon is for internships. So we have a great relationship with corporations from all over and the students, they come to campus to recruit our students. Many companies, these are some where the companies are working, our students are working beyond graduation, or doing internships. 79% of our students graduate in four years. This is way above the National average, if you're probably familiar. 95% of the class of 2019 was employed or in graduate school within nine months of graduation.

So I hope to see all of you at some point in ONCAMPUS Boston and together we can work on that Elon University transfer application. Thank you so much for your time.
