Undergraduate Foundation Programme
"I chose to study in Sunderland because it’s a small city where I can focus on my studies and everything is close proximity. I live in private accommodation which is close to the campus so its easy to get around, especially, with the free bus service. I love that it's so easy to travel in the UK; I have visited lots of nice towns and cities.
Once I complete my degree programme at University of Sunderland, I want to go back to Kuwait and become a Pharmacist."
I wanted to study at ONCAMPUS Sunderland as the city is really quiet so there are not too many distractions. I have genuinely enjoyed learning new things about Business and putting them into practice. I tend to hand my work in early so that my teachers can check it and feedback any improvements. The research project has been a privilege to study and an area I have never experienced before. The facilities at Sunderland are amazing, especially the gym which is very big and really cheap to join, in fact the University invests a lot into its sports facilities, which are amazing. ONCAMPUS Sunderland is very good value for money for students on a budget. When I finish I would like to help my mother open a childcare centre - she helped me to achieve my dreams and I want to help her achieve hers.
I decided to study in the UK because the education system is better than Sudan’s. Classes are much more interactive and I’ve really enjoyed my English lessons as my teacher will always help me if I have a problem. I also enjoy going to the library in my free time to read. The teachers here are very kind and helpful, they will always find a way to keep you motivated with your studies. The facilities at the university are great, the gym is the best and the library is open 24 hours a day which I use a lot. When I finish my degree I wish to help grow my father’s business.
Since coming to ONCAMPUS I think my English is improving quickly. My writing and speaking have definitely improved a lot.
I am guaranteed a place to study Pharmacy at the University of Sunderland, and this was very important to me as it is hard to get a place at this University in my country.
I’ve learned lots of skills to help me at University – how to write essays; how to read; and how to communicate well with the teachers and other students.
I am having a very nice experience – it prepares your mind for the outside world.

A friend of mine suggested I came to the UK to study and when I started researching degrees, Engineering at Sunderland was highly ranked and had more practical elements within the syllabus which will help me learn more effectively. The ONCAMPUS teacher cares about all his students and if you don’t understand he will help you until you do, quizzing you to ensure you’ve understood. I have found it easy to make friends with other students, of all nationalities. I had an offer to join the University football team but I decided to focus on my studies this year, maybe next year I will join. Sunderland is a great, cosy town with few distractions to your studies, making it an ideal study destination.
The teachers at ONCAMPUS have been really friendly and encouraging. I have improved my research skills, using different resources to gather information and understanding my target market. The way that I study is much more independent and the mid term tests ensure I stay motivated and revise. The teachers have a lot of patience and will answer any question that we have. The library is very nice and the gym is very cheap. In my spare time I mostly study in the library and revise for the next class. I also hang out with my friends and go to restaurants or eat in the park as there is lots to do in the surrounding area. After my degree, I would love to stay in the UK and continue exploring the country.

Since starting at ONCAMPUS my English has improved a lot. When I first came I could understand the words I heard but it was sometimes difficult to answer. Now I feel confident that my speaking has improved a lot. They are training us how to write essays and to listen well.
I am living in the Halls of Residence and I have found it really nice and easy to communicate with the people who live there. We have a shared kitchen and meet people there every day. Everything is convenient to the Campus and you can make friends very easily.

Most of the things we have been taught I knew a little but not very well. My knowledge has broadened. I did an ICT course before I came here but there are some things that I have forgotten or I didn’t know and I have learned many things. I am so glad that I have improved.
I think that any student going onto the Pharmacy course should go through the ONCAMPUS because it really helps one’s understanding and knowledge. It gives you the freedom to communicate with people of different backgrounds. It gives you the foundation of what you are going to study.
